Origami is artwork with paper, its origins are still disputed but it has been most developed in Japan. It is an art form which involves folding of paper in a variety of patterns resulting in intricate art models and designs.
Origami is also found in Europe and China. Japanese origami is supposed to have evolved in the Hein era. Traditional origami is handed down the generations. The flapping bird origami spread from Japan to Europe in the early Meiza era. Modern origami has origami creators that create exquisite origami art. Simple origami designs

Simple origami designs can be taught to kids. They will enjoy doing it. Following are some of the simple origami designs:

Dog design

Take a piece of paper and place it with its white paper facing you.

Now fold the paper diagonally to make a triangle. Now you get a colored triangle

Fold the middle of the triangle to give you a line or crease dividing the triangle into two.

Now take the two corners of the triangle and fold it towards yourself . This gives a dog ears appearance.

You can now draw the eyes, nose and mouth with a pencil. Your origami dog is done!

The other simple origami designs are as Boat, hat, airplane, frog, or even an Origami box

Origami flowers

Natural flowers may fade away but origami flowers remain fresh forever. Flowers like the lily, rose, and tulip in all colors can be made. When you are making the simple rose design, use red color paper for the petals and green color for the calyx or base of the flower. You can glue it to a card as a gift item. The difficulty level is minimum.

Origami fantasy designs

Some of the origami fantasy designs are Tatsu an eastern Dragon, Unicorn, Yoda the Jedi from star wars, dinosaurs and Pikachu the favorite Pokemon.

Crane is regarded as a sacred creature in Japan. According to Japanese folklore, your wish will be granted if you make a thousand origami cranes. There is also a story about a Hiroshima survivor named Sadako Sasaki who developed leukemia due to radiation effect by the bombing. She started folding cranes and by the time she completed them, she died at the young age of 12.Her story was made popular by Eleanor coerr in 1960.It was a symbol of peace. As a symbol of hope and peace, even to this day origami cranes are sent to hospitals and nursing homes.Sadako's statue exists in Hiroshima and also in Seattle, Washington.Even to this day, people visit the statue and leave origami cranes near it in remembrance of her.

Chinese paperfolding

The Chinese paper folding was not as thoroughly studied as in Japan because of the political conditions in China during those times. But now we see many Chinese designs that are popular in origami. Flower vase is one popular Chinese design. During the war, time some Chinese refugees were kept in American prisons. They started making Chinese paper folding models with toilet paper and gave it to people who helped them. Later the art pieces were sold for charity purposes which gained a lot of media coverage. They named the art work after the refugee ship they were traveling in and it was popularly known as the “Golden venture folding.”
